Healthcare close to home. We are here.

The REGIOMED-KLINIKEN are the first hospital group to stretch across federal state borders. It consists of five acute care hospitals in six locations in Upper Franconia and southern Thuringia, nine medical-care centres in 14 locations, the ground-based ambulance service in the Sonneberg area, six centres for the elderly and two care homes for those with psychological disorders as well as four publicly-sponsored service companies.

The REGIOMED-KLINIKEN provide comprehensive professional services locally for the population of the areas around Coburg, Hildburghausen, Lichtenfels and Sonneberg.

Despite the growing necessity to specialise the services available in each location, the patients benefit from the valuable supplementation of the medical services and, thus, from healthcare close to home. In the process, the joint concepts for diagnosis and treatment, as well as the exchange of experience and expertise strengthen the proficiency of each individual location.

With over 1,400 in-patient beds, the acute-care hospitals are located in Coburg, Hildburghausen, Lichtenfels, Neuhaus am Rennweg, Neustadt bei Coburg and Sonneberg and make it possible to provide the people of the region with optimised medical and nursing care close to home. At the heart of all our efforts are, of course, the patients and thanks to state-of-the-art equipment and the latest treatment methods, the hospitals are able to provide the highest standard of treatment and care for each individual. By supplementing the medical service centres in the hospital locations, as well as Eisfeld, Seßlach, Themar, Romhild and Burgkunststadt in addition, organised treatment from a single source can be guaranteed.

The centres for the elderly in Coburg, Eisfeld, Hildburghausen, Schleusingen, Oerlsdorf and Sonneberg, as well as the residential homes in Eisfeld and Lindenau provide a total of almost 500 care places. The facilities provide individual, needs-based nursing and care; the respect for the individual and the dignified treatment of the residents are our top priorities.

With nearly 5,000 committed and well-trained staff, the hospital group cares for around 68,000 in-patients and 90,000 out-patients per year. More than 2,300 babies are born in the hospitals every year. All of this means that REGIOMED provides the region with comprehensive hospital services in practically all fields. In a total of 56 specialities and fields, ranging from A for allergology to X for X-rays, 20,000 operations and 40,000 procedures are carried out every year. Every year, the ambulance service in Sonneberg and Neuhaus is called out 12,600 times and covers more than 370,000 kilometres for injured and ill patients. Moreover, REGIOMED is one of the biggest employers in each location and is continuously striving to remain an attractive employer.

The region itself also benefits greatly from the healthcare group. As a consequence of demographic change, in connection with technical progress in medicine, increasing numbers of elderly patients will require increasingly complex medical services. In the long-term an individual hospital will not be in a position to manage those demands on its own. Should it no longer be possible to guarantee comprehensive care for patients, the whole region becomes less attractive.

The establishment of a stable holding structure was therefore the logical consequence for the successful advancement of the cooperation. All those involved aim to stabilise the performance of the locations at a high standard and in the best interests of the local population. The patients receive high-quality medical care in the region without having to travel long distances. That means that the cooperation between our houses is vital for two reasons: it secures the patients for our hospitals and it secures the hospitals for the patients.
